Designed For Success

Our Teacher Training Program is designed to create top-notch teachers, whether you’re a seasoned instructor, or just starting out in your teaching journey, this training will give you the confidence and skillset needed to teach safe and effective classes, grow your client base, and raise the barre in the industry.

Barre Fitness is currently an unregulated field, meaning that just about anyone can become “certified” to teach barre fitness and/or offer a “teacher training program”- we’re working to change that, but in the meantime, this is the most rigorous and in-depth training available in the world.

The program consists of over 200 hours of training, which honors and expands upon, the original principles and techniques from the classic Lotte Berk Method. You’ll be trained in a unique and functional method, developed by the founder and owner of Origin House of Fitness: Nicole Adams. With over 1,000 hours of training and certifications under her belt, and over a decade of teaching barre fitness, yoga, Pilates, spin and functional fitness classes, Nicole has created the most in-depth barre training program available to the public, a program that is sure to set every teacher up for success, regardless of their prior teaching experience.

Our Curriculum Includes

Technique Training and Practice:

You will learn how to safely experience and effectively teach the fundamental positions and postures that make up a class, including: weighted arm work, thigh and seat positions and abdominal and back strengthening work. Our training methodology is geared towards all learning styles- you will feel the position in your body, you will learn the anatomy and mechanics, and then you will practice teaching the position. Our teaching methodology includes the principles of: visual demonstration, observation, hands-on assists, and verbal instructing, including injury and pre/post-natal modifications.

Functional Anatomy:

Understanding the mechanics of how the body works, and where your students should and should not be feeling sensation is imperative to becoming a powerful and impactful teacher. During this portion of the training, you will study and then put into action through practice teaching, a curriculum designed to enable you to understand, and then confidently teach your students about the muscle groups that are being worked, what proper alignment and muscle engagement looks and feels like, and how to provide modifications.

Barre Fitness History, Philosophy & Ethics:

Our curriculum does more than simply supply you with the necessities to teach a class. You will learn about the therapeutic history of the method, how it’s changed and evolved, and the differences in popular methods offered across the country today.  With the lack of regulated training certification programs, not all styles of barre are equal, and it’s important to understand the current conditions in the industry and the inevitable changes that lie ahead.

Trauma-informed Care:

We live in a world that continues to move at a faster and more intense pace, and we must be informed and prepared for the realities of stepping into the role of being a teacher. Understanding how to work with a room full of real people is often something that we as teachers are left to figure out on our own- not only will you learn how to have sensitive conversations with clients about things such as trauma, injuries and body image, but we will teach you how to make your classes accessible to every body, and every life story attached to that body. This is a real world training, for real world people, and we’ll offer you the support and confidence needed for you to become an empowered, sensitive and mindful teacher.

Class Structure and Musical Mastery:

We do not teach a scripted class, rather we teach you the foundational techniques necessary to have the confidence to create your own classes, infused with your personal style. We will teach you what we believe to be the best structure for a class, and offer you examples and support, as you tap into your own creativity. Curating musical playlists is an art form, a time-consuming one, that can be overwhelming, especially while still mastering teaching a new discipline. You’ll learn how to navigate tempo changes, and harness the power of the beat, to keep your students motivated and working hard throughout class. Our method does not count measures of music, but we do sync movement to the rhythm of the beat, and utilize single, 2 and 4 count movement patterns.

Practicum Details and Structure:

Group lecture, at home study/practice, in class participation and practice teaching, class observations, practice classes with feedback, “mock” practice classes, written test and assessment, submission of a full-length trainee class, final class teacher trainee test out.

Why Train with Nicole?

Nicole is the creator and owner of Origin House of Fitness, offering yoga, Pilates and Bootcamp classes in addition to Barre Fitness. As an athlete and overall fitness enthusiast, Nicole has had the opportunity to practice and study with incredible teachers, in many different disciplines from all over the world, fueling the passion behind the development of her approach to teaching fitness based classes.

Running was her first love, and first glimpse, even at a young age into, into the connection between the mind, body and spirit, and the therapeutic elements of movement based practices. A nasty fall and injury in high school ended her love affair with running, but she was introduced to yoga, Pilates and functional fitness as a part of her rehabilitation regimen. She traded in her running shoes for a mountain bike, and rock climbing gear, and continued to explore meditative movement as “exercise.” During a mellow yoga class in her early twenties, she experienced a panic attack and relived trauma during the class. After being left alone in the room by the teacher, she began a quest to understand the effects of trauma in the body, and how movement/exercise could promote healing and reconnection. Nicole has a minor in Yoga and a BA in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, and thousands of hours of training and certification in: Yoga, Pilates, Spinning, Functional Fitness, Strength and Conditioning Training, and Barre Fitness.

Nicole stumbled upon Barre Fitness by accident, and was immediately hooked after just one class. After 10 years of practice, the overall method has completely changed her body, and her approach to teaching group fitness classes.

She has taken over 1,000 barre fitness classes alone, and studied: The Barre Method, Barre3, Pure Barre, and The Dailey Method for over a decade. She ultimately decided to train under the Dailey Method, as it was the most rigorous training that she could find. Every single teacher training program that she has undergone, has always felt lacking in some way, and she is consistently heartbroken at the lack of integrity in the general yoga and fitness industry’s methodology for training teachers. Her disappointing and painful personal experiences were the catalyst to try and make a change, in effort to prevent others from having to undergo the same pain and frustration, and to create an awareness that will ultimately hold teachers to a higher level of integrity and accountability, and prepare them to actually teach- different types of bodies, with different stories.

When you choose to join this training, you will not only have access to the most extensive Barre Fitness Teacher Training in the world, but also to Nicole, and all of the wisdom and life experience that she has devoted herself to for over a decade. She is committed to teaching you, to become a highly effective and empowered teacher.
